Samuel Tells of Baby Jesus

Display a picture of Samuel The Lamanite on top of the wall

Ask the children if they know who is in the picture?
Then ask do you know what he preached about on the wall?

Read Heleman 14:3-4 emphasis the light from heaven and how bright it was.

Ask the children to imagine themselves in heaven when Christ was born, and how excited they were.

Sing like the angels and the hosts in heaven when Christ was born.

Sing the Chorus:
Hosanna, Hosanna, Oh let us gladly sing
How blessed that our Lord was born; Let earth recieve her king

Teach 1st verse with actions
Said Samuel, (Samuel standing on the wall)
Within five years  (hold up 5 fingers)
A night  (sleeping hands under head)
Will be as day (stretch arms like waking up)
And baby Jesus will be born (rock the baby)
In a land far, far away. (place hand on forehead looking into the distance)

Display a picture of the Baby Jesus and explain that in the first verse Samuel prophesied what was going to happen and in the second verse it is what came to pass.
Teach 2nd verse with actions
Across the sea in Bethlehem (make waves with your hand)
Lord Jesus came to earth (rock the baby)
As Samuel had prophesied (Samuel standing on the wall)
And angels (flap wings, the ASL sign for angel)
Sang (singing position hands)
His birth (rock the baby)

  1. We learned this one last week & the kiddos loved it. They sang the chorus so great that we made a grownup in the room cry. YES!!!

    1. That is awesome Kris. What other songs are you teaching for Christmas time? I am doing "Away in a Manger" and "Joy to the World." I love this time of year.

  2. Thank you!!! I've been trying to figure out the best way for me to teach this to my primary kids and this is exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks so much :)
