Pumpkin Testimony

This Sunday is the day before Halloween, so I thought it would be fitting to do something to celebrate the season but still keep the spirit of the Sabbath day.  It is similar to the Pumpkin Carving Prayer http://www.dltk-bible.com/pumpkincarving.htm but I wanted to customize it to my LDS Singing Time.  This is what I came up with.

Singing Time

I thought it would be fun for the kids to carve an imaginary pumpkin, you know really play it up about how big and heavy it is.   Each child should carve their own imaginary pumpkin along with you.

While pretending to carve this pumpkin sing a song for each part that is carved.

Hat/Top:
Represents the knowledge that Heavenly Father knows me and loves me.
Sing I Am A Child of God  page 2

Inside/Slime and Seeds:
Represent having clean thoughts and we can repent and be clean each week as we partake of the sacrament and remember Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice for each one of us.
Sing When I Am Baptized page 103

Eyes:
Represents that we can look toward the temple and set righteous goal for ourselves.
Sing I Love To See The Temple (both verses) page 95

Mouth:
Represents the opportunity we have to pray to our Heavenly Father and be kind to others just like Jesus was.
Sing I'm Trying To Be Like Jesus  page 78

Ears:
Represents listening to the Holy Ghost so that we can choose the right.
Sing Listen, Listen.  3x's  page 107

Candle/Light:
Represents the light of Jesus Christ, being able to distinguish the truth in all things and that we can share the truthfulness of the the Gospel with others.
Sing: I Hope They Call Me On A Mission page 169

Have all the children hold up their imaginary carved pumkins and be dramatic of how wonderful they look.  Bear Testimony of the truthfullness of the gospel and that we can be like these pumpkins and choose the right everyday.
