I know when I am baptized my
wrongs are washed away,
And I can be forgiven and improve myself each day.
I want my life to be as clean as earth right after rain
I want to be the best I can and live with God again.
Ask for a volunteer that is super strong!
Have the child put the rocks in the backpack.
Each rock represents a wrong.
Told a Lie
Pushed my Brother
Stole a candy from the store
I said a bad word
I made my sister cry
let the children come up with some on their own
Sing: I know when I am baptized my
wrongs are washed away
And I can be forgiven and improve myself each day.
Now have the child put the backpack on and hold the bottom so it is not heavy for the child
Read: Moroni 8:19-20,22
Little children do not need to be baptized before the age of accountability the age of 8 years old. Through the grace of God these children have no need to repent. However through obedience we should teach our children the importance of repentance and how baptism is the first ordinance and covenant we will make in our journey to live with our Father in Heaven again.
Sing: I know when I am baptized my
wrongs are washed away
And I can be forgiven and improve myself each day.
Explain that when we turn 8 years old ,we are now accountable for our sins
let go of the backpack and let the child feel the weight of the rocks.
Not everyone is baptized the second we turn eight so we will need to repent,
be baptized and make a covenant that we will take upon us the name of Christ.
Remove rocks as you explain the proccess
Repentance Process
Acknowlege the wrong
Apologize
Right the wrong
Promise never to do it again
Sing: I know when I am baptized my
wrongs are washed away
And I can be forgiven and improve myself each day.
Dump out the rest of the rocks
Explain that when we are baptized we are forgiven of all of our wrongs
We are as clean as earth right after rain.
Sing: I know when I am baptized my
wrongs are washed away
And I can be forgiven and improve myself each day
I want my life to be as clean as earth right after rain
I want to be the best I can and live with God again.
Everyone makes wrong choices and mistakes, even little children,
though they are not held accountable.
Through the atonement of Jesus Christ we can repent of our wrongs and be forgiven.
